P.S. I Love You
This is my new favorite book, I really don't know why I didn't read it sooner. To be honest I don't know what made me pick it up in the first place. Maybe it was because I was alone on Valentine's and needed a love story that was sad and yet better than my own. Whatever the reason was for buying it, I'm glad I did. I was sucked in from page 1 and couldn't put it down. Of course I had to because of work and sleep and such, but I easily could have read it in a day. The way it is writen, with care and love on every page made me crave for more. I kind of felt like I knew exactly how the main character Holly was feeling, as if I had been there myself. The thought of losing someone you love when you are so young is heartbreaking, and then finding out that this person is making sure that you still live your life after they are gone is romantic. Holly's husband Gerry dies from a brain tumor. Before he died, he had written 10 notes to her and made sure that after he was gone, she got them and told her to open one note for each month after he had passed. Each note had a chore for her to do, something that will bring her back to life and not sitting home alone crying everyday. With each chapter I was eager to read what new little task he had for her. And was sad to know that it would have to end. Once the last note is opened, that's that. No more cute little Gerry words. It was almost like I knew the guy and had lost him as well. It really was a great read. I really wanted to see the movie, until I watched the trailer and could tell that it was not exactly like the book, and I felt that the only way to fully capture the magic of this novel, you'd have to make the film exact. So I think I'll pass on the movie. Great read, loved it, makes me wish I had a sexy romantic man like that.
