Mistletoe Murder

Cover Image Out of all the Lucy Stone series that I've read, the Christmas ones are the best. But I also love Christmas. This is the first book the in Lucy Stone series and the characters are just as loving in this one as they are in the newer books. Lucy is a mother of 3, works for a call center, and is busy, busy, busy. She's kind of the type of person I would have wanted to be. Get married to a sweet guy, have a family, live in Maine, solve mysteries. Maybe that's why I like these series so much. I'm not say that they are all great, I started one and just couldn't get into it, but so far the Chirstmas ones seem to be the best.

How To Be Happy, Dammit.

Cover Image This book was super cute. And helpful. Its got 44 Life Lessons that make sense. Its one of those books that is handy to keep around for those days when you are feeling down and hating life and need a little reminder of how to be positive and happy. Its a quick little read and something you should check out.

Star Spangled Murder

Cover Image So this one wasn't as good as the Christmas one, but it had enough action going on to keep my attention. It was one of those mysteries where there were so many suspects that I had no idea who the killer was. It will kind of surprise you. The ending was kinda lame, but the book made me laugh at parts. Makes me kind of excited for the Fourth of July.

Christmas Cookie Murder

Cover Image This book was super cute. I was at the library the other day just looking around for anything that would catch my eye, and this did. I love Christmas and I like mysteries, so I figured, why not. It's part of a series where the average housewife always seems to get herself involved in a mystery. She reminded me of a down to earth Martha Stewart. I look forward to reading some more of her books.

The Right Attitude To Rain

Cover Image I love this title. It's what got me to read the book. And the cover. It looks so green and lush as plants do after a rainfall. This author writes mystery series, and the first book in this series is a mystery, this book actual book was not. It read more the like the main character's diary. You followed her day by day as she dealt with her feels for a younger man and if she should pursue them, and her cousin comes to visit, etc. If anything, it's more of a romance than a mystery.

"The literay equaivalent of herbal tea and a cozy fire..." The New York Times.

I love that quote, it seems very fitting. The main character is a philosopher, so be prepared for lots of questions and deep thinking. I love it. It makes me feel smart. It's good to be smart.

North River

Cover Image This is a story about a doctor during the Depression who helps everyone, regardless if they can pay him or not. He's a good guy who's wife disappeared, and his daughter dumps off his grandchild while she searches for the father. Since he can't take care of the child on his own, he hires a nanny-type person, only to find love again. It's a good story, I was very into it until about half way when I just wanted it to end because I couldn't really figure out the direction the writer was going in. I've been wanting to read this since last year and finally it dawned on me that the library might have a copy, and they did. Why didn't I think of that sooner? I have another book by this author called Forever and its super long and kind a boring so its going to take me Forever to read it.
